U.S.-Mexico cheat braceros out of $1 billion
|
||||
| From 1942 to 1964 some 2.5 million Mexicans worked on U.S. farms and railroads as indentured servants under the Bracero program. Low pay. No rights. 10% of their pay was deducted as an alleged savings program. They were to get those $$$ on return to Mexico. They never got them. Some $1 billion. No one cops to knowing where the $$$ are, so ex-braceros are now suing to get back pay from as long ago as 1942. They are publicizing their outrage with a traveling caravana de las botas, collecting boots along the way to give Mexican President Fox and Bush to see if these leaders can deliver justice. | ||||
