When Eisenhower went to the White House in January 1953, Elfie came to Fresno to edit this paper. He was granted full editorial authority to print whatever he thought important to working people. He did. He cast barbs at racism in the building trades. He exposed AFL-CIOs overseas fascist ties. He chided Jimmy Hoffas gangster connections. All the while going a 1000% with his camera and words in every local union action. After 13 years, he left in January 1966 when his 1000% support for La Huelga became too much for the local established unions. Herewith Elfie will reprint some timeless stories from that period including some modern day comments framing the actions. |
